Person Arrested in String of Indecent Acts 20-28040

Date: December 16, 2020

File: 20-28040

One person has been arrested in connection to a string of indecent acts committed in Saanich, Victoria, Oak Bay and the Westshore area over the past two months.

The first of eleven incidents were reported in Saanich toward the end of October. The details between all incidents were similar, in which a vehicle driven by a man approached or waved down his victims, exposed himself, was masturbating and then drove away. All of the victims were females and had been walking or running in the area prior to being approached.

Similar reports were made in mid and late November in Saanich and Oak Bay, followed by several more reports at the beginning of December, including incidents reported in Victoria and Langford.

On December 10, 2020 detectives with the Saanich Police Department Major Crime Unit arrested a man from Metchosin. He has since been released with a court date set for early next year.

This investigation is on-going and anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Saanich Police Department or their local police agency. Since the arrest, no further incidents of this nature have been reported.

“This is a disturbing series of events that appear to be connected, however, the investigation is still very active and it is too early to confirm that this suspect identified is responsible for all of these indecent acts. Anyone that may have been a witness to these incidents or that was directly approached by someone in a similar manner is asked to please contact their local police agency.”
