The man in this file was identified yesterday by our officers and was completely cooperative with our investigation. It was determined to be a matter of misunderstanding that has now been explained to all of those involved. There are no safety risks to the public stemming from this incident in Saanich.
We continue to remind children and families about what to do in the event of an encounter with a stranger:
– If a stranger approaches to ask for assistance or presents an offering, refuse, walk away, find a safe place, and call the police or an adult that they know or trust.
