Suspect Sought in Pellet Gun Incident 22-1990

Date: February 1, 2022

File: 22-1990

On January 31, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. officers responded to the 3300-block of Douglas Street for a report that a man had been struck in the face by a pellet shot from a passing vehicle. Although the man did not require medical treatment, the potential existed for far more serious injuries. The man had been sitting with his back to the road outside the front of a business, so it is unclear at this time if he or the business was the intended target.

Investigators were able to locate the vehicle they believe was involved in the incident and have since spoken with the registered owner. The investigation has yet to identify the suspect and officers are trying to determine a motive for the assault. It is believed that the suspect and the victim in this file are not known to one another.

We are aware of other recent incidents in the Greater Victoria Area involving the discharging of pellets at persons in public. We will investigate and share information with the other agencies to determine if there is a connection to these incidents.
