Break and Enter and Sexual Assault

On August 30th at approximately 0315 hours, Saanich Police responded to an abandoned 911 call in the 4000 Block of Borden Street. Police dispatch were able to make contact with the female caller while members were responding. She advised that an unknown male had unlawfully entered the residence and sexually assaulted her. The female victim was able to fight off the male,  who fled on foot as police arrived on the scene.

 

A K-9 search of the area was conducted; however the suspect was not immediately apprehended. Saanich Police Detectives and Forensic Identification were called to the area to assume responsibility for the investigation.

 

After a detailed investigation through the early morning hours on August 30, 2012, investigators identified and subsequently arrested a 16 year old Saanich male. The youth male will be held in custody to appear in Provincial Court on August 31, 2012. Investigators will be recommending multiple charges including Break and Enter and Sexual Assault.

 

This attack appears to be an isolated incident and investigators are confident that there is no immediate danger to the general public.
