Man arrested at Camosun with imitation firearm

On Monday October 31, 2016 just before 3:00PM the Saanich Police responded to a report of a man with a handgun at the Camosun College Lansdowne Campus.

Saanich Police were on scene within 4 minutes and quickly took a suspect into custody.

Arrested, without incident, was a 28 year old Victoria man and an imitation firearm was seized.

“We would like to remind people that carrying an imitation firearm is extremely dangerous, even at Halloween.”  said A/Sgt. Jereme Leslie.  “Responding to this incident put many people at possible risk.”

Police are recommending one charge of having possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.  The suspect will appear in court in mid-December.
